This work represents the forceful limitations of racial segregation as seen in the Ellfield Addition, DeKalb, IL. It shows an ostentatious interior overlooking a prisonlike facade.

Bio:

Jacob van Loon (b. 1986) lives and works in northern Colorado. His work has been exhibited across the United States and in Europe since 2009. His paintings and drawings are housed internationally within several private collections. Visit the artist’s website.
